My name is Thomas Kamalakis and I am currently a Professor at the Department of Informatics & Telematics, Harokopio University of Athens.
I obtained my degree in Informatics and my postgraduate degree in Electronics & Communications from the University of Athens in 1997 and 1999 respectively. In 2004 I completed his PhD thesis in the design and modelling of optical components for communications.
I first joined the Department in 2007 as a lecturer and went on to become a full Professor in 2021. I am currently the Dean of the School of Digital Technology and the acting president of the Department. I have over 100 publications in peer reviewed journal and international conferences in the field of integrated optics, nanophotonics, optical detection, free space optics and system techno-economics.
I teach several courses at an undergraduate and post-graduate level. In this page you can find more information on my research and teaching activities.
